A Nod's as Good as a Wink...............

Hello my dear Bloggeroos!

Once again, I've been busy working in my Inventions Lab to see what I can design to make our lives easier.

Do you like my "Winky Jeans"?

Cool, eh?

As you walk, you wink at any pedestrians following you.

If you're thinking of getting a pair, just be aware that on bottoms of a, (cough), certain size, the winky thing doesn't quite work.

I tried on a pair and instead of winking - my lard arse kinda looked more like a gorilla in a sulk................

Not quite the look, I was aiming for!

Now, you may remember, that a while ago, I tried online dating.

This didn't work for me.

So.................as I'm not yet ready to give up the remote control................

...................and, I am capable of lighting my own Barbecue, thank you very much................

..................until Mr Right does come along, I made myself one of these pillows............

To make it more like the real thing, I even added "Eau de Body Odour" under the armpit!

Neat, eh?

I hope you like my offerings today. There's more to come, so don't forget to pop back will you.

Gosh! I've been busy....................

Many of you will remember from last week, that I have now had my spare room turned into a laboratory.

I get these ideas from time to time.

(Remember my dabblings with Astrology and my Agony Aunt problems?)

My mind flits hither and thither, trying to find an interest that can really hold my attention for more than a couple of weeks!

(Oh! you noticed that, did you?)

I've come up with some wonderful inventions............

I'm only going to show you a few though, as I've got my audition for "Dragon's Den" in a couple of weeks. I am obviously saving the best ones for then.

Gardens nowadays tend to be a bit small. By the time you've got your conservatory, decking, and a couple of Diarmuid Gavin's blue balls, there's no room left for baby's pram, is there?

How can Baby get some fresh air?

I gave this some thought, and look what I came up with.............................

My new granddaughter, Rosa is test marketing it for me. My son says it's also good to use when baby's crying. Shut your double glazed window, leaving baby in the pen and you can't hear the screams. (Although your neighbours can, obviously!)

Unfortunately, it wasn't suitable for Jayden, my 10 month old grandson. The little monkey squidged his hands through the gaps and pinched the window cleaner's Cornish Pasty!

Here's a neat little gadget for any smokers out there.............................

So useful if you lose your cigarette lighter!

Last, but not least...........................

............................................................

My Patented Orange Juice Squeezer......................

I'm going to add little buckets hanging off the sides, filled with Champagne.

I've called the resulting drink ....................

BUTT'S FIZZ!

I've got plenty more ideas, so don't forget to pop back, will you?

Thank you so much for your lovely, heartwarming comments on my last post. I truly appreciate them.

Some Days Even I'm Under a Cloud............

You know me.........sunny disposition, never let the b******s grind me down.

I carry my optimism and cheerfulness like a banner before me.

Wherever I go people wave at me, they shout after me, "Aye up, Sue! Howya doin'?"

(Admittedly some also shout "Go home you loony!" and "Have you forgotten to take your medication today?")

But today is a particularly sad day for me.

Today, I don't feel like being cheerful.

Two years ago today, the bottom fell out of my world.

Liam, my much loved partner, lost his battle with cancer. He was 54.

Before we became partners in 2000, we had been friends for 30 years. People often asked us why we had taken so long to fall in love with each other.

Liam 1970 just before we first met

Liam and I often wondered that ourselves, and discussed it on numerous occasions.

Quite simply, by the time we fell in love, we had both matured. We had grown up.

We had both lived through various life experiences that had given us an inner strength that neither of us possessed in our younger years. It had taken all of that - for us to become compatible!

Liam and me Summer 2001

We had eight very happy years together, and I miss him terribly. But I have such lovely memories of our time together.

Many of you have read about our escapades in previous posts.

We were always laughing!

Since his death, neighbours have remarked that they used to hear us giggling walking down the street in the evenings. They always assumed we were on our way home from the pub! The truth is neither of us touched alcohol.

Liam was only diagnosed 4 months before his death. We both had some savings and I asked him if there was anywhere he would like to go before he died.

He told me that he wanted to be where he had spent the happiest years of his life.

"Do you want to go back to Texas?" I asked him. (He had lived there in the early 1980's.)

Liam in Texas 1983

He said, "No, you daft bugger. I want to be here with you, business as usual."

I saw this quote the other day. It's about unconditional love.

'The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them'.
Thomas Merton.

I wasn't sure whether to post this or not, but I think I just needed to.

In my next post, I will show you the inventions I've come up with in my lab!

Necessity is the Mother of Invention.........

Hello my dear Bloggeroos - it's so nice to be back!

In my previous post, I mentioned that I have been busy coming up with new inventions to make our lives that much easier.

I'm a great believer in having the right tools for the job, so first of all, I called in a local building firm, to convert the spare room into a laboratory.............

"Cowboys RUs".

What a lovely bunch of guys - they only got through 14 tins of biscuits, 14 gallons of milk, 10 kilo's of sugar, and 2 X 500gm tins of Sainsbury's Gold Roast Coffee.

(Coincidently, I appear to have several items of intimate apparel missing - but that can't be anything to do with them - can it?)

I must say, I'm very pleased with the result................

They even checked out all the equipment for me................

So...........I then bought a couple of books........................

and.........................

And of course, no inventor can be taken seriously without a white lab coat...........

Gosh! Haven't I lost weight since giving up the Coco Pops?

I've come up with some marvellous innovations. There will be more in my next post, but here's a little taster.................

Just the thing to get your toddler to give up his dummy/pacifier!

Don't forget to pop back to see more of my wonderful inventions.

The Stork's Been and he's not done yet!

Well, my latest grandchild arrived last Saturday morning!

Rosa May arrived after only a one and a half hour's labour.

Well done Alistair and Annmarie. A welcome little playmate for Evie.

Mumsie and Daddio are pleased as punch - this is their SIXTH
great grandchild.

We've also heard that my sister's daughter is expecting her second child next year.

Five of the great grandkids have been born over the last 22 months and we can't help wondering that Mumsie is maybe putting something in the teapot when we all go round for Saturday Lunch.

Are you going to Audrey and Charlie's family as well?

I'm still not feeling too good at the moment and I'm going up to spend some time with my other son and his family up north.

I'll try and do another post before I go.

I've been on an Inventor's Course (honest ;O)

Here's a little taster of one of my new inventions..................

It came in VERY handy during my recent cold!

Back soon!

A Change is as Good as a Rest........................

I suppose you've guessed by now that I'm taking a bit of a rest..............

As you can see, the maid is just giving me a quick pedicure before my guest arrives for afternoon tea.

I just don't seem to be able to think straight at the moment........

Maybe it's because.............

I have a terrible cold, or.........

I'm excited at the prospect of my new grandchild, due any day now......

However, to keep our chuckle muscles firmly flexed - I've been having a clearout of a few funny pics I've managed to collect over the last few months.

I thought you might enjoy some of them.

*********

Right then! Who's for chocolate?

This photo brought a smile to my face......................

Heee! Heeeee!

**********

I've also got some new inventions to show you............

This one would come in handy when using Public Toilets. After all we don't want to leave our little ones unattended outside the loo, do we?

***********

What about this for when you're feeling depressed.............

A Prozac Pillow - how inventive is that?

**********

My favourite new invention is the Magic Mirror, courtesy of Jenny at winnibriggshouse
(it was attached to an email from her promoting Breast Cancer Awareness.)

Oooooh - I want one!

*************

So, my dear bloggeroos, I will be back soon. Bear with me - I so appreciate your friendship and support.............

I'd better go...........David's knocking at the door, ready for his afternoon tea.

Yes! Of course it's David TENNANT.
(Well he's got nothing better to do since he handed over the keys to the Tardis!)

After his tea - he's going to help me get me drawers down..........

NOOOOOOOOO!

Not those kinda drawers.

I need to move some furniture from my bedroom to the living room......

Back soon!

A Room with a View...................

The view from my bedroom window

Today, I'm going to go completely off-tangent.............

Yes! I know I still haven't recounted the tale about my Spanish Pub Fun Night

and..........I know I haven't answered any of your Problem Letters

but................

I wrote a rough draft in my notebook for this blogpost a couple of months ago.

Unfortunately, I then mislaid said notebook.

Well, I was feeling a bit bored the other day and I was playing in the fluff under my bed and I found the missing notebook. Oh what rapturous joy! (I really should get out more)

I also found half of a very fluffy chocolate Wagon Wheel, one of my FOUR engagement rings, and Anthea Turner's DVD "Perfect Housewife"

(oh! so that's where it got to!) Stop laughing........

Okay, okay - I will get on with the blogpost!

The picture at the top is the beautiful view from my bedroom window. (Any other photo's today are pinched or borrowed.)

Even though I live on a housing estate, the houses around here were all built in 1948. All of the gardens are generously sized and well established. My room looks out over the back of the house, so all I see is the interrupted views of the neighbours' back gardens as they back onto each other.

Birds flock overhead, at certain times of the year, geese fly overhead.......

and even though I live about 40 miles from the coast, in cold weather the seagulls are regular visitors.

When I originally bought this place five years ago, I didn't notice the gorgeous view until I decided to move my bed to opposite the window. What a bonus!

The older I get, the longer it seems to take me to prepare myself for the day ahead.

So I sit in my bed, sipping endless cups of coffee, and making notes for myself.

I sit there for ages - just thinking! (If thinking were an Olympic Sport - I'd win a Gold medal!)

Also due to Fibromyalgia, occasionally I need to stay in bed for a day or two.

The view from the bedroom window is truly a great "Window on the World" for me.

It changes constantly, and even in bad weather it always holds the hidden promise of better days to come.

About a year after I moved in, I bumped into the previous owner.

She was very surprised, yet pleased that I still feel that this house is perfect for me.

I invited her back for coffee and showed her the jobs that have already been done around the house.

The poor lady was very unhappy when she lived here, and seemed to suffer from continuous bad luck. Her husband left her with three young children and she had trouble with noisy neighbours. (Who have since moved, thank goodness!)

When we got to the bedroom, I started to wax lyrical about the beautiful view.

With a look of disappointment on her face, and a tear in her eye, she said.....

"I lived here for two years, and I never ever noticed the lovely view."

I wanted to share this tale with you to illustrate that by not looking out of the 'right' window - we sometimes miss loads of good stuff that's going on right under our noses!

I hope you find a nice window today.
